It's genetics! We have been breeding these guys for almost 17 years, so when you come to the ranch you get to see generation after generation of pigs, you will see grand parents, great grand parents, great great grand parents and great, great great grand parents and some lines you will see even more (up to 10 generations right now)! What this means for you is we do not have big lines in our pigs. If you buy from a breeder who does not have generations on the farm, or from an auction or random ad, you will never know if great grandpa pig was a 600 pound berkshire pig, making your pig easily 300 pounds! We do not promise pigs under 50 pounds, its very rare! What we promise is we don't use pigs from random lines, we don't purchase outside pigs from free ad sites, we want to know what goes into our pigs so you don't end up with a 100 pound pig! Of course if you choose to overfeed your pig, we can't help that, we can help guide you along the way (we are just a text away).
